I received a lien from the Virginia Department of Taxation for 100% of my earnings in September 2016. My employer's HR office is located in a different state, and there is no HR office in Virginia. The employer did deduct some payments from my payroll but did not deduct the full 100% and eventually stopped deducting payments. I work part-time and do not always have the same hours weekly. Recently, I received a letter regarding the Virginia tax wanting to garnish 100%. Why did my employer decide not to garnish 100% of my paycheck each pay period?

I purchased a puppy from Petland in Robinson, PA on May 31st. The puppy had a cough before purchase, which the sales associate denied was kennel cough. The puppy became extremely sick within a few days, almost dying due to a quick onset of kennel cough. Petland has not released the puppy and has provided inconsistent stories and medical care plans. I want to keep the puppy if it's not seriously ill, but I also believe I'm owed a refund. What are my rights and options?

An article on this site was explaining a very similar situation that happened to me this weekend in Denver, Colorado. I've been a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) for 7 years, providing relief of pain and prevention of surgery for people full time at a massage clinic. I make 55k per year with benefits. My clinic just pulled me off the schedule today, meaning no clients or expect to work. A client had accused me of inappropriate conduct during a massage yesterday, and she called my employer this morning claiming I did something wrong, which is sexual. I have no clue how or what I did wrong. Should I sue her for defamation of character and possibly the loss of my job tomorrow?

My nephew bought a car from DriveTime for 16K, which was listed at 9K. He has had it under a year, the payoff is 14.9K, and he pays 340 per month. What is the best advice for him, and how does this work, how much will he be charged?

I have a restraining order (RO) against my daughter's father for domestic violence against me, not my daughter. We have been in contact, but I plan to cut off all communications starting today. I am in California, and the RO is criminal. He has prior felonies and multiple domestic violence cases, while I have no record. What are the repercussions for me for having contact, and what are the chances of him getting custody of our child, especially since she witnessed the violence and CPS is involved?

My friend's son was found dead, and his second wife, who he was separated from but never divorced, has taken possession of his car. The son was never divorced from his first wife. What legal actions can the first wife and the son's mother take to reclaim the car, especially if the second wife knew about the first marriage?
