I recently went to Family court in Suffolk County, NY to enforce my stipulation as my ex was refusing to pay for our daughter's college costs. I represented myself and the judge ruled in my favor and ordered my ex to make payments. I had also asked the judge for reimbursement of my expenses of flying up to NY, but the magistrate said she was not legally able to make that award. Could I take the judge's ruling to small claims court and try to collect for my out of pocket expenses?

My son received a Summons requiring an answer in 28 days. He's in a correctional institute and has no lawyer. What kind of response are they requiring? Should he agree with the complaint? It is his responsibility to pay damages listed in the complaint, but his hands are tied until he serves his time. So does he say nothing and let the default judgment be rendered?

I was at another school a couple weeks ago and tried to get into a bar using a fake ID. The bouncer took my ID and said nothing, and I walked away. A few days ago, an officer emailed me at my school email asking to talk about an incident that occurred that same day and to call him back. I haven't responded yet. How did they get my email from an ID like that, and what might happen next?

Is a motion for contempt of court allowed to be filed against a debtor due to willful violation of a protective order that governs litigation stayed because of a bankruptcy filing? Can a claim be brought against the debtor in the bankruptcy court as an adversary proceeding or as a counterclaim in an existing adversary proceeding? Additionally, what are the implications if a debtor in possession files a lawsuit in another court without permission, and what happens if the debtor's bankruptcy is converted from Chapter 11 to Chapter 7 and the trustee deems the claims filed were frivolous and in bad faith?

I am a 1099 contractor with an agreement stating I should not be supervised while performing my services. Now, I am being told that someone else will supervise me, which is not allowed according to my contract. What should I do to protect my rights and maintain my commission structure?
