I signed a lease to occupy a rental unit in Michigan. My year is up and the landlord has given me notice of renewal, with options: month-to-month, 6 months, or another year. I have been on long-term disability since occupying the unit. If I were to resign the lease, is there a legal medical excuse that I can use to break the lease if I need to before the lease is up?

They took 30% from my retirement account via QDRO. Isn't the law 20%? I was in arrears for child support, I am divorced since 2006, and the retirement accounts are mine by stipulation in 2006. I owed her $49,000. Her lawyers took $10,000 and then added 30% on top for a total of $77,000. My lawyer made an error in agreeing. Can I recover this extra 10%?

When the sheriff approached me, he asked for another individual not associated, known, or related to me and the summons. The cover sheet to the forms was taken by him which had the wrong name on it. All other forms have my correct and full name on it. If the docket # XXXXX XXXXX in my name is XXXXX XXXXX?

Due to Peripheral Neuropathy, my job has ended, and I am no longer considered reliable for work that requires climbing, standing, or lifting. I am 57 with a high school education and lack skills for entry-level positions. I believe I meet all five criteria for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) approval and have documentation from my Neurologist and physical therapy evaluation. Should I apply for SSDI immediately or wait two months, and what are my chances of getting approved on the first attempt?

I had a car repossessed several years ago, and now I received a judgment in the mail. After the case was settled, I was changing jobs and supporting myself. I called the finance company and asked if they could rewrite my loan since my vehicle was half paid for. I was a little short that month, so I offered $160 instead of the full $250 payment, which they accepted. I told them I would pay the rest when my income tax check came in. However, a tow company took my car after the finance company accepted the partial payment. Did the creditor commit a breach of peace?
