I've been seeing a professional counselor for about 6 months and would like to transition to a friendship outside the professional realm. However, according to the NBCC's code of ethics, she is unable to engage in such a relationship. Is there a way I can waive my rights as a patient to make this relationship possible without endangering her professional standing?

I saw a psychotherapist for ten years due to an abusive and traumatic childhood. After terminating therapy, I discovered she published a 'fictional' novel containing scenarios from my personal history. While she didn't use my name, I'm disturbed that she used my trauma for her own gain. Do I have any private legal recourse or any recourse at all?
