I was a joint owner on bank accounts and US Bonds with a friend who recently passed away. She made someone else Power of Attorney before her death. Will her will have to be probated, and am I still entitled to anything from these accounts? How long does probate take, and how do I get a copy of the will?

One day, a woman named Robin, who is a friend of my boss Lisa, mentioned that they had been discussing my condition. My boss acknowledged this and said they had broken HIPAA laws. I was charged with failure to yield right of way. I was sitting at a stop sign, looked both ways, and proceeded when I thought the traffic was clear. I began to turn left and was struck on the side by a vehicle I did not see that came from a parking area to my right. Is there a defense to this? My insurance paid for repairs to both vehicles involved. Is there anything I can plead to mitigate this charge?
