I was an anthropology student at California State University Sacramento and graduated in Spring 2011. I entered the graduate program in Fall 2011 but dropped out due to personal reasons. My financial aid never went through, causing the school to accrue debt against me. Despite graduating before the debt was incurred, I never received my undergraduate degree. Can the University hold my degree as collateral, and is there any legal evidence that supports this practice?
