I was assaulted by my ex-boyfriend in Mexico in July 2017. He strangled me and beat me up for nearly 30 minutes. I ran away and changed my flight to return home early. He is now contacting me demanding half of his deposit back from our shared house, which I had to take over all payments for after kicking him out. How long do I have to press charges for the assault, and does it look bad that I waited so long? Are the issues regarding the property separate from the abuse, and what can I do about his continued harassment?

My cousin's daughter is concerned about her rights regarding her mother's will and the property left to her. The stepfather, who is still living in the house, has been behaving erratically, including removing a family heirloom without consent and potentially mismanaging finances. The daughter is unsure about the status of the will and the deed, and wants to know how to proceed to ensure her inheritance is protected.

When the creditor sues on a confession of judgment, is that the opportunity to challenge the legality of the confession (cognovit)? Additionally, can Texas and Arizona law be used to raise the usury issue when they try to register a judgment obtained in New York? What is the usury rate in New York, and if a loan constitutes usury, is the creditor barred from collecting any part of that loan? Can the borrower demand a refund of the money paid to the creditor?

I'm having issues with my next-door neighbors regarding overgrown trees that are protruding onto their property. The City has already been involved, labeling it a civil matter. I hired a tree trimmer, but the neighbors refused to let him complete the work. I'm concerned about the City getting involved again and about trespassing onto the neighbors' property. What can I do since the neighbor is unreasonable and the City created a problem?
