I was falsely detained as gravely disabled in California, despite having a notable stellar non-criminal history and being a retired RN. The person who claimed I was gravely disabled has a criminal history, and her father is an undercover LAPD officer. I have been living in Thailand for nearly a decade, but my husband suggested I return to America to spend time with my son, leading to a heated debate and her lying to have me detained at Ventura Behavioral Health. My criminal record has nothing to do with her credibility. What legal actions can I take against this false detention and the defamation of my character?

My boyfriend and I have been paying on a car loan financed in 2012 with few missed payments in the first year, but we haven't touched the principal. We are concerned we never will, especially since we have made three years of on-time payments and still owe the same amount we financed. We are in California, both veterans, and the loan is through Santander Bank with a variable interest rate. We want to know if this is legal and if there are other options. The loan has negatively impacted our credit scores and we feel trapped due to being upside down on it.
