I was hit by a car while riding my bike over a year ago. I suffered cuts, bruises, hospital bills, and my bike was totaled. The driver was working for the city of Fort Collins, CO, and they have offered a settlement of $5000, which includes the cost of my bike, hospital bills, and pain and suffering. I had to buy a new bike for $700 and put it on my credit card, which I'm still paying interest on. I asked for compensation for the new bike, but the insurance company claims they have no authority to give me more. Should I accept the settlement or fight for more?

I'm in California and living in a house with someone who is very sick in the hospital. His stepson is asking me to leave, claiming I'm not wanted anymore. My children's rooms are needed for a nurse and medical equipment. I'm not married to the person, and I have a part-time job, making it hard to find a decent place to move to. What are my rights and what steps should I take to protect myself from being forced out?

The law states that you can have a passport if child support arrears are $2500.00 or less, but restricts renewal above $5000.00. My passport has been restricted due to child support arrears in excess of $5000.00. As my position requires me to travel outside of the US, this places an enormous strain on me as my employment is now in jeopardy. Is there any way that I can have this restriction lifted to allow me to continue my employment?
