I went to a rehab facility in West Palm Beach, FL, for alcohol treatment and paid $12,000 cash. I signed a payment agreement, but my husband, who was the signer of the $12,000 cashier's check, did not. Upon arrival, they took my belongings and removed the cashier's check without my presence or permission. They never conducted an inventory with me. When my belongings were returned, the check was missing, and an empty bank envelope with $60 was found. I left the facility after 3.5 days due to lack of assistance. They admitted to having the check but took it without my permission. What type of lawyer should I contact, and what legal actions can I take?
