I work at a corporate restaurant and was told to clean tables and booths. Two booths were sat again before I could clean them, and the bartender is responsible for other tables in my section. My manager told me to clean them before they got sat again, and I agreed. I clocked out and was talking to a co-worker when the restaurant closed. My manager then told me to clock back in and clean the two tables that had been sat. I refused because I was already off the clock and had to declare a tip if I clocked in. My manager insisted and I eventually cleaned the tables, having to declare a tip I didn't earn. My manager also implied that he works with adults, not children, which felt directed at me. What is the best way to handle this situation, and does my manager have the right to force me to clock back in and clean the tables?

I hired a sign company to install vinyl lettering on a building. I paid them for half the job, but two days later, the lettering started coming off. They agreed to fix it but never did, so I fixed it myself. More lettering came off, and they again agreed to fix it but haven't shown up. My client is asking when it will be repaired, and I don't have an answer. I can repair it myself and be done with the sign company. Am I still responsible for the balance of the project if I'm the one doing the repairs? There was no contract signed, just a verbal agreement over the phone. I have no objection to paying them if they would do the repairs and give me a warranty in case any more lettering comes off in the near future, but they will not warrant their work. What should I do?
