I have a friend who was arrested in Alabama and upon her release from jail, she was told to contact a TASC agency. They are making her attend self-help meetings, undergo random drug screens, and pay a probation fee. She has not even gone before a judge yet. Is this legal?

Due to the economy, we fell behind on payments, and they turned us over to an attorney. The debt is $36,000, and the attorney fees are $13,000. Is there a law on how much attorney fees can be, and can the attorney legally charge us that much in the State of Alabama?

I totaled my car on the 31st of May. The police had it towed to clear the road. I called the tow company today, and they told me I have to pay six hundred dollars to hand them the title to salvage it due to all the fees. I don't have the money, so I asked if I could at least pay the fifty-dollar salvage fee to stop the charges from accruing. I was told if I didn't pay the 600 dollars, they would continue to charge me fifty dollars a day until they would have the DMV sue me. Where do I stand legally?
