Is it illegal to insult someone? I insulted a woman by text message, saying "Whatever fluffy. Get a treadmill." We had been having a brief text message disagreement prior to that, but I got frustrated with her. This occurred outside the workplace. I since explained myself and apologized, etc. She responded by "wishing me well on all of my endeavors." I am worried that what I did could potentially have a legal consequence if she were angry with me. This was an isolated incident. I had not spoken to her for eight months and will likely never again. The reason for it, although irrelevant, was her interfering with me and my fiance. I live in Illinois and she in Iowa.
