I am in foreclosure and had a sheriff's sale date of 8/30. I tried to work out a plan with my lender but was unsuccessful. I filed a Chapter 13 Pro Se to stop the sale, then retained an attorney to amend my petition and file the plan. At my 341 meeting on 10/23, I learned my case was dismissed for not filing a plan, and I now have a Sheriff's Sale scheduled for 10/25 at 11:00 a.m. I never received notice of the dismissal. Can I refile to stop the sale and work out a plan?

I received a 1099-C from my former lender about my foreclosed property, but then they sent a 1099-A in error. In Box 2, it says $93,868.50, and in Box 4, it says $96,000. Does this mean I owe taxes on the difference, or what does it mean?

I contracted to paint a house and took a down payment of $2500.00. After working the first week, we were denied payment despite the contract specifying payment terms. I kept the down payment to cover labor and materials for the first week's work. The homeowner is now suing me in small claims court to get their down payment back, claiming breach of contract. What will happen in my case, and are the tools and equipment purchased for the job at risk of being disputed?

We were given permission by the city to clear out a landscaped area, but after removing a tree, the neighbor is suing us for $60,000, claiming the tree was on their property. We have conflicting property surveys and the city has confirmed the area is our property. What should we do, and if we lose the lawsuit, can we file for bankruptcy to avoid paying the judgment?
