My apartment flooded on 11/7/2018 from the upstairs residence leaving their water running. The water was rushing through the ceiling lights and vents, causing an inch of standing water. There are holes in the ceiling and walls, and the apartment smells bad. Maintenance has not been responsive. I have kept detailed records and made several contacts to the apartment staff. I have even stayed in a hotel and bought a carpet cleaner. I requested to move out early, but they said I would have to pay 2 months rent in advance. They finally came by on 12/11/10 and said 'I don't know what to tell you, someone will be by.' I bought a house this weekend, and now they are trying to say that I want to move because I bought a house and not because the apartment is neglected. What should I do?

It is time to involve a lawyer. Buying a house is not relevant to the habitability of the apartment....

What are the options if you are injured at work (broken foot) and the supervisor does not report it on OSHA log? Also, does not allow you to see your doctor (only company doctor) or take any prescribed pain medication. Kept on jobsite so there is not any recorded missed work. Secondary injury to knee a few weeks later from fall due to avoiding pressure to broken foot on wet drilling rig floor. In Texas.

My son and daughter-in-law rented an apartment in North Carolina and got two dogs, for which they paid a non-refundable pet deposit and signed a lease addendum. Since then, they have received notices about the dogs barking, not picking up after them, and being on the deck, culminating in a notice stating the apartment is unsanitary and the dogs cannot be kenneled there. They have been given until Monday to remedy the situation. My son has checked with neighbors who have not complained, and they maintain a clean apartment. How does the landlord 'know' the apartment is unsanitary, has she been inside without their knowledge, and do they have any legal recourse to get out of their lease for base housing?

I am retired from the NYC Police Department and received a duplicate shield as a retirement gift. I would like to duplicate this shield so that each of my children may have one when I pass on. Is it legal to possess this shield in the states of Florida, New Jersey, and Illinois, as long as it is not used for nefarious purposes?
