My fiancé had a divorce from his ex about 1 year ago. She was living in another country and they had not lived together for at least 3 years before the divorce. The foreign agency was unable to locate her to serve the divorce papers, so he ended up getting the divorce citing abandonment following his lawyer's advice. Now, his ex is demanding a settlement from the divorce. My questions are: 1. Does his ex have any grounds to ask for a settlement now that the divorce is done, especially since she didn't work while they were married? 2. During their marriage, they borrowed money from a family member of hers for living expenses. Now she is holding him responsible for the entire sum owed. Is she responsible for half of this sum, and will a verbal agreement stand in court if she tries to take him to court for it?

My husband was fired from his CPA firm (EWH) for breaching a non-compete contract by working for clients on the side. The firm discovered several other clients he had worked for using company software, billing them, and donating a portion of the money. He had a total of 10 EWH clients he took on for various reasons, with total billing of approximately $20,000. What is the possibility that EWH will sue him for this amount, and do companies typically sue former employees for lost revenue when they have a competing side business? How much should we worry about this?

If a person paid for a medical procedure and then denied me the procedure, and I threatened to expose information that could harm his reputation, did I commit blackmail? I was trying to get him to honor his commitment and didn't intend to commit a crime.

I received a cease and desist order from my ex-trainer at the barn where my horse is boarded. She claims I made false statements about her that would affect her business and demands I cease making such statements and formally retract them. I did contact stable management about safety issues, including the trainer riding my horse with the girth on backwards, resulting in untreated wounds. I also mentioned alcohol consumption by the trainer and her underage assistants, which made me uncomfortable. How can I stand up for the truth, protect my right to tell the truth to others, and handle the cease and desist order, especially since one statement is true and the other two I never made? Additionally, how do I protect myself and my family from continued harassment via text, email, and in-person contact at the barn?
