My friend accidentally spilled water on someone's laptop, causing it to stop working. The Apple store suggested either replacing the battery for $800 or waiting 3 days to see if the laptop dries out and starts working again. The laptop owner wants my friend to buy a new laptop immediately. Does my friend need to pay for any damages, and how should they handle this situation?

I lied to my job about a death to take time off and now they want proof. If I make a death certificate, can I have it voided right after? I was fired because I couldn't provide proof and was out over a week. I work for a large Fortune 500 company in NY. What steps should I take?

A homeless person has set up a tent on my 90-year-old mother's lawn in California. Does this person have the right to do this, and what legal steps can be taken to remove them if they are trespassing?

I need protection for my intellectual work. I am outside the USA but have published an ebook in the states. I have sent an NDA to the person who holds information about my book, but he has ignored my lawyer and my document. The person is a public figure and I fear he might misuse my unpublished novel. What can I do to protect my work and ensure he complies with the US Copyright Laws?

I am in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy and received a motion to dismiss the case for material default due to an additional $7,000 in back taxes that resurfaced. The original plan was for $29,000 over 36 months, but now I am concerned about the case being dismissed. What can I do to amend the plan to include the new taxes without extending the plan beyond the 5-year limit, and will the court allow this amendment?

I have been employed with my current employer for 10 years. Within the past year, I have been declined for a Supervisor position and my boss (in a different state) often assumes I have an attitude. I've been accused of not being tactful, and I've asked several times for a clear job description without success. Yesterday, I brought up my concerns to my boss, and she mentioned that if I wasn't on board with her demands, we would be having another conversation. This began a year ago, and the work environment is not hostile or abusive. I am located in Texas, and the workplace has about 275 employees. Is it okay for me to be treated this way, and what should I do?
