My goddaughter's grandmother rents a house in Camden, NJ. She has been trying to get her landlord to install handrails on the front steps and redirect a neighbor's downspout that empties onto her steps and front walk. Last week, she slipped and fell on the frozen steps, resulting in a trip to the emergency room. Does she have any recourse against the landlord for her medical expenses and damages?

I want to sue someone for $10,000. I made him an interest-free loan of $25,000. He made payments and in May, decided not to make anymore. He owes me $14K, but I know I can only file for the $10,000 limit. What do I do now?

I had my credit card hacked, and the hacker has my name, address, phone number, last four digits of my SSN, my birthdate, and my mother's maiden name. I've already canceled the credit card and called TransUnion to put a security watch on my SSN for a year. Can the hacker use my personal data to harm me in any way, and is there anything else I should do to protect myself?

I started a small asphalt business in Citrus County, Florida, and let my son handle it. I was taken to court over a large bill and a judgment was entered against me personally, even though the company is an LLC. I was never informed of a court date and never served. Now, the opposing attorney has brought me in for a deposition and wants another one asking for the same items I supplied in the first one. What should I do to vacate or set aside the default judgment?

I have a leasing apartment contract in Florida that starts on January 1. However, my husband found a new job in Miami, and we need to move. Is there any way to break the contract, and are there any laws that could help us?

Is there a new law that allows writers to reclaim their publishing rights after 30 years, and what are the implications if the publisher doesn't have a signed contract where the writer gave away their publishing rights?
