My husband and I are going through a divorce and we have temporary orders. He has visitation every Thursday from 5-8pm. I have requested to switch this Thursday with Wednesday, which he refused. I have my sister visiting from another state and we planned to travel with my daughter for the long weekend. Hotel and airtickets were already purchased a month in advance. To change all the flight reservation and hotel booking will cost me close to $2000. I would like to know if I just go what would be the implication? If he files motion of contempt with the court what could the judge rule? How likely am I to face jail time out of one day missing a visitation that is only 3 hours? I missed one visitation previously but it was an honest mistake as got mixed up with the dates. I apologized and offered him an alternative date which he refused to take. So that was the only other time. I am torn in canceling my trip or taking my chances want to understand how bad this will be on me.

I am having trouble with a car repair shop that did a horrible job on my car. My insurance has approved another repair shop, and the old one will have to pay for the job. It has been three months since the accident, and the car is still being worked on. Is there any limit to how long this process can go on, and can I stop it to find a different solution, such as forcing the insurance company to total the car or getting the first repair shop to reimburse for poor workmanship?

My husband was jailed on August 13 and was promised time served and classes if he pleaded guilty. However, after a fight at home, he was given 35 days in jail. I hired a lawyer after the hearing, who took $1,500 but has not helped. What can I do to get him out, at least on job release or out for our daughter's sake?

I am in trouble at work. My employer is asking for a statement from me. I feel that I will be demoted, lose pay, and items will be placed in my file. Should I get a lawyer to help me draft the statement since it's all based on 3 workers' perceptions of my character? I have been employed for 5 years at the selected company and only have one minor infraction. While I did break company policy (pass travel) and admitted to this infraction, I feel I am being railroaded due to my union advocacy.

I recently applied for several jobs I was highly qualified for, but found my name on Intelius with an offensive alias and incorrect information about my residence, education, and relationships. This false information may have cost me job opportunities due to background checks. Do I have any legal grounds for defamation or slander?

I had an intimate relationship with a woman and when I ended it she claimed I knowingly gave her herpes. I have never shown any signs or symptoms of herpes and am planning to get checked soon. She mentioned contacting a lawyer. Do I have anything to worry about legally?
