My husband used his corporate American Express card for personal expenses totaling $8,600. We informed the company, but before we could resolve the issue, the company was sold, and the new owners are now demanding immediate payment. We are unable to pay until our tax refund arrives, which would significantly reduce the amount owed. The new company is threatening action. We need help. What steps should we take, and should my husband speak with his new boss about this issue? Additionally, does the new company inherit the debts of the old company, and how does this affect our situation?

I had a medical issue and went to the doctor a couple of times a week for about a month. One day, a woman named Robin, who is a friend of my boss Lisa, mentioned that they had been discussing my condition. My boss acknowledged this and said they had broken HIPAA laws. I was appalled that my personal medical treatment was being discussed with a stranger and my boss. What kind of law protects me and my personal medical information, and what can I do about this violation?

I was charged with failure to yield right of way. I was sitting at a stop sign, looked both ways, and proceeded when I thought the traffic was clear. I began to turn left and was struck on the side by a vehicle I did not see that came from a parking area to my right. Is there a defense to this? My insurance paid for repairs to both vehicles involved. Is there anything I can plead to mitigate this charge?

I paid $1,200 to get my car fixed, but it broke down 12 miles later. The mechanic now wants more money to remove the faulty engine he installed. Can he do that?
