My nephew defaulted on a loan, and I want to ensure this debt does not affect my credit. I am in Texas, and I have already signed surrender papers with the credit union for the vehicle he used as collateral. I am waiting for the vehicle to go to auction to determine the total financial damages. I have text messages from him acknowledging the late payments and stating he did this on purpose. What steps can I take to ensure this debt is on his credit and not mine?
