My nephew has been in state prison in Massachusetts for over two years without a trial, despite being on lockdown for 22 hours a day, meeting his court-appointed attorney only once, and being scheduled to appear in court 23 times but only actually appearing three times. He has never waived his right to a speedy trial, and his attorney keeps saying he is waiting for another judge to be assigned. Are his constitutional rights being violated, and is there anything we can do to help him? He is charged with felonies including breaking and entering, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon in Massachusetts, and has a pending charge in Rhode Island for possession of an illegal firearm.
