I live in Texas but was on a work trip to California where I experienced a disturbing incident at a hotel. While showering, I noticed a man watching me through an AC vent in my hotel room. The hotel management dismissed my claims and even threatened me when I insisted on reporting it. I have recorded evidence and police reports. I'm unsure if I should wait for the police or seek my own attorney. Should I pursue this in California or Texas, and what type of lawyer should I look for?

We have been a victim of racism and malpractices. My 66-year-old mother, who has severe arthritis and limited mobility, was mistreated during a monogram procedure. The technician was impatient, spoke to her in English despite her not understanding, and caused her significant pain. I recorded the incident and tried to file a complaint, but the representative asked for a power of attorney and implied legal action against me for recording. What should I do to address this mistreatment and discrimination without risking repercussions for my mother?
