We borrowed my cousin's fiancé's van, which was involved in an accident where we were hit from behind. The other driver's insurance sent a settlement check made out to the van's owner and finance company, but the owner is behind on payments and cannot cash it. The owner now claims I am responsible for fixing the van. Is this true, and can she falsely report a theft after the fact?

I work for a company that opens at 6:00 a.m. I collect shopping carts, but I am told to come in at 10:00 a.m. and have to collect all the carts by hand that were sometimes left the night before in the parking lot. This takes about 1 1/2 hours, and the store begins to get busy at 9:30 a.m. Why am I working these 4 hours for free?

I have a speeding ticket and need to appear in court in California, specifically in Riverside County, but the ticket was issued in Escondido. I was charged with 91 in a 65 zone. I'm unsure of my options and how to prepare for court, especially if the officer who issued the ticket shows up. What are my options, and how should I proceed with defending myself if I plead not guilty?

I am a TN resident and while I was staying in NJ, my parents had some issues with NJ state Tax department when they filed bankruptcy. Recently they came and levied my account because my mother was a co-owner in my account. I want to put a stay on releasing that fund. Can a TN attorney represent me in that matter or it has to be from NJ? Additionally, I had a judgment in my name 16 years old that I was not aware of. Can they come and levy the account out of state? Even my credit report was not showing this judgment. Can they enforce judgment if I was never served?
