What should I do when I get to court after being sued by Capital One credit card company and have been unable to get a reduced payment? I received a letter from a law firm instructing me to come to court, but I don't know what to do or what the court will tell me to do. I had a lawyer working for me, but I am now without legal representation. What will happen to me at court?

I have someone threatening to have me murdered. I have filed a report, but the DA says there's nothing I can do because she hasn't done any bodily harm to me. The lady says she will have someone else do this for her. She is an ex-employee and has threatened me to two other employees. I fear for my life and my family's life. I defaulted on a car loan in April 2001, surrendered the car to the dealer, and now have a court date for later this month. The same company sued me in 2004 at small claims, which was dismissed, and now this is set for case management in civil court. Is that allowed, and should I get a lawyer? The total amount I am being sued for is $5,000 plus court and lawyer fees.
