I received a letter stating that I have twenty days to respond to a complaint for unpaid property taxes, which were sold at auction and bought by a local firm. They are asking for a judgment that allows the sale of my house to recoup their money. I want to keep my house from being foreclosed and sold over such a small amount. I can raise the money and would like to discharge the debt. What do I need to file, to whom, and in what form do I make payment, and what other steps do I need to take?

I rented my home out in Martinsburg, WV, with the tenant wanting to buy my home after one year. They did not buy but kept renting the house for 3 more years. I sent them a notice in October 2015 that they needed to move out by the end of January 2016. They got November's rent in December and have only paid $300 towards December and January's rent. I live in Phoenix, AZ, and when my son checked on the house, he found that the two upright freezers and the blinds were gone. Is it worth getting a lawyer to get my money and the money for the two freezers?
