I am a 56-year-old male with a history of gout. My hand recently swelled up and was painful, leading to a doctor's visit where I was diagnosed with gout and given anti-inflammatory tablets. My diet includes a lot of fruit, meat, fish, salads, and occasional takeaways. I drink alcohol socially, with 4 to 10 standard drinks when out, but none during the week. I also bike ride and walk regularly. My hands swell occasionally after exercise. I have not changed my diet yet. What dietary and lifestyle changes should I make to manage my gout effectively?
