I have acid reflux, and despite taking medications like Pontoprazole and Cipoxaline, I still experience constant dry cough, throat pain, swollen tongue with bruises, headache, and a hoarse voice. I just got a message from my doctor after a CT scan yesterday. The doctor mentioned a possible pulmonary embolism found incidentally during a GI CT scan. The instructions are to follow up with the local ER for a CT pulmonary angiogram of the chest. Does this mean I should go to the ER now? I am 57 years old, a smoker, and thought my symptoms were just allergies. I have been congested and coughing normal phlegm, but not enough to use an inhaler. My heart rate is 84.
