I had a duodenal switch performed in 1997 due to continual nausea, which was confirmed by multiple tests to be caused by bile reflux. I am now confused because I've seen that the surgery is typically performed for obesity, which I was not. I am currently experiencing the same symptoms as before the surgery and have no medical insurance, relying on government institutions that have not been able to help. Additionally, I cannot take painkillers due to a compromised immune system from government-prescribed medications, and I have severe osteoarthritis from a previous unsuccessful surgery. Could you clarify if the duodenal switch was the right surgery for me and advise where I could receive help through government institutions or if there is an alternative treatment?
