I have a very bad bronchial cough, COPD, asthma, and have been sick for at least a week with a constant cough that alternates between dry and wet, accompanied by headache, diarrhea, pain on the left side under the breast in the ribs, and a low-grade fever. I've tried various cough medicines, including Mucinex, Combivent Respimat, extra strength Advil, and Buckley's, but they haven't helped. I'm a smoker and haven't been able to sleep due to the severity of the cough. What should I do?

I have a sinus infection with a dry cough and probably need antibiotics to get rid of it. I have had the cough for one day and sinus congestion for five days. I am 65 years old, a type 2 diabetic controlled with metformin 500 mg twice daily. I have no fever, chills, headaches, shortness of breath, or chest pain. I have lots of nasal drainage but no foul smell or blood. I am not allergic to any medications. What should I do for my sinus infection and cough?
