I am a hypochondriac with somatic tendencies. I found a knot on my collarbone, had an X-ray which was fine, but later had a chest CT scan showing mild arthritis and oseophytes on my scapula and first rib joint. Despite these findings, I am still stressed and worried that something serious, like cancer, was missed. I have health anxiety and see a therapist. My RBC, Hemoglobin, and Hematocrit numbers are too low. I have active Colitis and significant mitral valve leakage, which might damage red blood cells. My RBC six days ago was 2.71, Hemoglobin - 9.0, Hematocrit - 28.6, MCV - 105.5, RDW - 52.0, showing a decline from April. I switched from Sulfasalazine to Lialda for Colitis, but no relief yet. My question is, do you think it's more related to the gastro issue or the mitral valve leak, or both? I am concerned that my low numbers might affect my eligibility for repair surgery.
