I recently discovered that my alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level was markedly elevated (162 U/L) during a previous ER visit for GI bleeding. The doctor wasn't concerned at the time, but I'm worried about how this might affect my life insurance application. I take a lot of Tylenol for back pain and have a history of fatty liver disease. Is this ALT level concerning, and could it raise a red flag for my insurance?
