I've had a sore throat for 2 1/2 weeks now. I had a cold the first week but those symptoms have gone away except for the sore throat. There's also some pain/clogged ears going on. The sore throat comes and goes, only hurts when I swallow, and is an achy pain, not stingy. It hurts more on the sides of my throat and into my ears. I use Tylenol for the throat pain maybe once a day and am on Nexplanon for birth control. I'm 36 years old and smoke. What could be causing this and what can I do about it?
