I was eating a leaf salad with broiled chicken when I felt pain halfway down my esophagus. The pain started today but I had a minor incident in the past. I have a burning sensation in my throat, especially in the afternoon and evenings, and I use Tums which helps a little. The pain is dull and feels like the food is too big to pass through the esophagus. Drinking milk also causes a little pressure in the same area. I am 81 years old, don't take medicines except for estradiol, and don't have any underlying medical issues. What could be causing this and what should I do?
