I have been losing my voice for short periods of time, usually in the morning, becoming very hoarse and then completely gone. It slowly comes back but remains hoarse for a while. My voice is fine for the majority of the day. I also have a cough only at night from my throat, not my chest, and a minor sore throat at times. This has been going on for 2-3 weeks. Is this something serious or something I should be worried about?

My mother was prescribed gabapentin for her feet, which are very painful, hot, swollen, itchy, and red. All her tests have shown everything is okay, but something is clearly wrong that the doctor is not finding. Recently, she was hospitalized for an infection in her lower intestine and was very sick.
