My resting heart rate is normally about 60-65. I get anxious sometimes and it speeds up, not in a linear way but with groups of faster beats. This makes me more anxious, creating a cycle until I take Xanax or don't sleep. I'm 66, very active, and recently on a low-carb diet to lose weight. I've had extensive heart tests in the last 18 months (echo cardiogram, holter, 30-day monitor, EKG, blood work) and the doctor is not worried. However, I get worried and the cycle worsens. What could be causing this and what can I do about it?
