I have been experiencing persistent vaginal itching for about 6 months, which seems to return even after using Monistat for yeast infections. The itching is accompanied by a burning sensation, especially after using the restroom or drying off with a towel. There is no abnormal discharge or foul odor, and no significant redness or swelling. I am 30 years old, sexually active with one partner, and was previously diagnosed with herpes but have never had an outbreak. I am at the hospital until I give birth in a week. The night nurse came in today to flush my IV. She opened the lid part and dropped it on my pillow. I was still sleepy but she got a few drops before I pulled away and told her the pillow is dirty. She apologized and got a new one. My question is, what are the risks for infection from the IV tip having a few drops, and if there is a risk, how long until it would show and what is the effect on the baby?
