My doctor did some blood tests and said my kidneys are stable but the function is reduced. He diagnosed me with chronic kidney disease and recommended I see a kidney specialist. I have lupus and am alarmed at this news. I have never been told there is anything wrong with my kidneys before. Can you look at my results and tell me if this is of concern? Could this merely be dehydration? I am a vegan and eat little protein. Here are my values two weeks earlier in the hospital on IV fluids. How can the values change that much so quickly?

Why would I carry Strep A in my system? I was very ill last April with a 102 fever, admitted to the hospital, and given mega doses of antibiotics. The diagnosis was Strep A in my system, but no strep throat. I am 72 years old and have been very healthy, with osteoarthritis being the only other medical condition. The last time I was really sick was 40 years ago with a strep infection. Should I see an internist? What exactly is Strep A, what does this mean, why does this happen, and what do I need to know as a preventive measure?

I got hit by a car 35 years ago and have a finger-sized bruise on the back of my left skull that makes me feel uncomfortable, especially when I lay down to sleep. My top teeth tighten, particularly on the left side where the bruise is located. If I touch the bruise with my finger, it alleviates the discomfort by 80-85%. Can I get a metal plate put there?

I have been experiencing abdominal pain for about two weeks, which comes and goes. The pain is ache-like and located in the lower abdomen, sometimes on the left side, sometimes on the right, or both. I also have a history of GURD, but this pain is different. I have not consulted a doctor or had any tests yet. My stool is sometimes runny, and I often belch, which is not typical for my GURD. What could be causing this pain, and what should I do?
