My husband has a recent red, blanching rash-like appearance on bilateral posterior elbows, accompanied by a 'deep' numbness to light touch in the affected areas, which persists even at rest. He has had Type I Diabetes Mellitus for over 30 years. The rash started about 2 weeks ago and is not itchy. There is also a palpable 'bead-like' spot and a hard 'swelling' band of tissue at one elbow. What could be causing these symptoms, and what type of doctor should we consult?
