My husband has been waking up in the middle of the night with severe chest pain. He smokes and drinks heavily. The pain is relieved by taking a drink of alcohol. Is the chest pain a possible symptom of alcohol withdrawal/abuse or is it more likely caused by something else?

I am in severe pain since I was thrown about 5 feet and slammed to the floor. I am not looking for pain management, as you will wind up there forever, you know. Can you clarify what you want to ask here? Duration of that bad incident happened? Pain is on the back or any other area? Any evaluation done so far?

My doctor reviewed my recent chest X-ray and noted a 'pocket' or 'growth' on the lower left lobe of my left lung, which is the same area where I had a spontaneous pneumothorax 25 years ago. I was a smoker for 30 years but quit 10 years ago. I am experiencing minor pain in that area and some shortness of breath, which my doctor is concerned about. What is my doctor looking for with the CT scan, and what are the possible conditions that could be causing this issue?
