My son has been diagnosed with cyclical vomiting syndrome (CVS). He is 17 years old, weighs 200 lbs, and is 6 ft tall. He has had three episodes of vomiting, with the last one lasting 8 days. He was prescribed Fluoxetine (10 mg) four years ago for depression/anxiety and recently had it increased to 30 mg by a GI specialist. He was also prescribed Periactin, which makes him sleepy. He has used marijuana occasionally but is not habitually. He is looking forward to going to college and is very sensitive and in tune with people and life. He had mono in January, which was initially misdiagnosed as a sinus infection, and later had a bout of diarrhea associated with salmonella. He is currently not anxious or stressed. What is the best approach to manage his CVS, considering his medical history and current medications?
