Until about three years ago, my wife's menstrual bleeding lasted 6 to 7 days out of a very regular 28-day cycle. Now the bleeding lasts 10 to 14 days, but the cycle is still regular at 28 days. Is this increase any cause for concern?

I just received the results for hormone testing. I'm 52 years old, female, menopausal since 2008, and currently taking estradiol (1 mg) and prometrium (100 mg) once daily for hot flashes. My libido is low, and my hormone tests show estradiol levels that are very low, suggesting my hormone pills aren't being utilized. My doctor suggested a prescribed formula of hormone in cream form, including DHEA. What do you think of my test results, and what are your suggestions for raising my libido?

I had a cold and have been coughing hard with a lot of phlegm. Three days ago, I started experiencing pain in the left side of my chest that extends from the ribs under my left breast to the armpit, especially when I cough. I've tried naproxen but the pain persists. What do you suggest?

I have throbbing pain in my right shoulder down to my elbow. I've taken naprosyn and meloxicam prescribed for carpal tunnel in my right wrist. Two days ago, I was scratched on my right forearm by a Labrador retriever's paw. It bled, and I washed it and applied topical antibiotic ointment. Today, while mowing the lawn on a riding mower, my arm began to throb. I wonder if it's just from the bumpy ride and my bra strap digging into my shoulder, but I worry if the dog paw scratch is anything more. I soaked in a hot bath, applied 'biofreeze' on the bicep area, and took the previously mentioned meds, but I haven't had much pain relief. I can't lie down or sleep. I am a 53-year-old female, 250 lbs, 5'4". I didn't call my doctor today but wish I had.

I have chronic pancreatitis and three cysts on it, plus I have liver inflammation C (hepatitis). Is it correct that I should not take any antibiotics or similar medications?
