I'm feeling and looking really bloated. What could be causing this and what can I do about it?

I'm experiencing a lot of mucus running down the back of my throat, frequent coughing, and occasional gasping for air at night. I've taken a Benadryl and used my daughter's inhaler. The coughing is constant throughout the day and feels dry with tightness in my chest. I'm 33 years old and have no chronic conditions. What could be causing these symptoms and what can I do to alleviate them?

I have been experiencing flu-like symptoms for 3 days, including headaches, congestion, facial pain, body aches, joint stiffness, sore throat, nausea, fever (ranging from 99 to 101), and coughing (wet cough with clear/white/tinge of yellow mucus). My husband and father-in-law are also experiencing the same symptoms. I want to know if this is a virus or something that needs a prescription.
