I have been experiencing black blood discharge that is not as heavy as my normal menstrual cycle. It has been going on for about 10 days. I am on the pill and there was one week where I started the activation pills earlier than normal. Is this normal?

I used Monistat, which provided temporary relief, but the issue returned after two weeks. My last period was normal, but there was a two-month gap during the summer. I am 44 years old. I took emergency contraception (EC) on the last day of my period and have had spotting for a week after, which was 5 weeks ago. A pregnancy test is still negative. I am not using any contraception and am on medications for depression and anxiety. Should I be concerned, or could it be due to the EC?
