I have severe vaginal pain that has persisted for years, despite multiple treatments and doctor visits. The pain is intense and makes any form of vaginal penetration extremely painful. I have had various tests and treatments, including ultrasound, biopsies, and medications like diflucan and flagyl, but with little to no relief. I am concerned about the possibility of an underlying infection or other condition that has not been properly diagnosed. What could be causing my symptoms, and what further tests or treatments should I consider?

I am 56 years old and have been wearing a panty liner every day since I started having sex at the age of 17. I have a light discharge and recently noticed that the pad smells like ammonia. I am sexually active, menopausal, and have been taking drops called vitality and other hormone balancing drops. This smell has come and gone over the years. Additionally, I have a pain in my left side lower back and noticed a light pink color in my discharge last week, which has since gone.

I have a yeast infection. Do I need to see a doctor? I went swimming in a pool and ocean this past weekend and it started to emerge around Monday. I haven't had one like this before. I've had BV and a UTI in the past. Just wondering if OTC meds would work or if I need a prescription.
