My period usually comes regularly, but this time it started on September 5th and just stopped on September 15th. I'm 39 years old and have been taking Aleve for back pain. I had a tubal ligation 5 years ago and have had no problems since. I took three urine tests, all of which were negative. What could be causing this irregular spotting and what should I do?

I just came from my gynecologist and need to have a hysteroscopy, D&C, and biopsy of the cervix. I've already had an ultrasound and an abnormal Pap test post-menopause. The doctor said my chances for cancer are 50/50. Is all this necessary and should he have told me about the 50/50 chance, as it has upset me?
