I need advice on contraception. I just had a baby at the end of January and have been getting my period every two weeks since about 5 weeks postpartum. I've had trouble with hormonal birth control in the past and am nervous about using it again, especially with my current irregular cycle. However, since turning 40, I've had periods every month or every other month, often with heavy bleeding and severe cramping. Additionally, I recently experienced severe nipple pain followed by a heavy period with cramping.
