I've been experiencing severe itching, mostly in the labial area, and a bit of burning when peeing, with no odor or odd discharge. I thought it might be a yeast infection, so I took Monistat and new doses of yeast infection pills, but there was no relief. I went to the doctor last week, and the tests were negative for trich, yeast, and bacterial vaginosis. I'm not sure what's causing this. Could I still have a yeast infection since I didn't do a culture test, but the microscopic test said no yeast cells? If yeast is not found in a microscope, does that mean it won't be found in a culture? I haven't used anything abnormal to cause a reaction, which is weird. Could overuse of antifungals cause irritation for me? I've also been taking more probiotics to keep it healthy. I read about possible cytolytic vaginosis, which can cause itching and burning. Is it possible to have a different strain of yeast that is resistant to antifungals or would it show on a wet mount test if I were to have any yeast infection such as Candida glabrata?
