I have been on birth control for about 7-8 months and took Plan B once as a precaution. I have been experiencing spotting for the last 2-3 weeks. My last period was the first week of last month. I have never had a pap test and have noticed some brownish discharge and an unusual smell. I have a hormone imbalance that the birth control pills were helping to control. What could be causing the spotting and what should I do about it?

I had protected sex three days ago and noticed bleeding during intercourse, followed by a yellow/green discharge. The discharge has no odor and is the same texture as normal discharge. My last period started on February 2nd and ended on February 8th, and I am due for my next period in seven days.
