I tested positive on two pregnancy tests last weekend, but I've been experiencing brown blood for a few days followed by red bleeding and cramping. An ultrasound showed no sac. What could be causing this, and what should I do next?

I had a transvaginal ultrasound exactly 1 week ago to determine the due date and was told everything looked great. When I began to bleed yesterday, I called the MD and was told that as long as the blood was not bright red and I was not cramping, I should not worry. Today, I had some mild cramping followed by several large blood clots, along with tissue, and what looks like afterbirth. I have an appointment tomorrow with my MD, and since this is my first miscarriage, I was wondering what will be done during that appointment? The nurse I spoke to at my MD office did not provide me with much information.

I've been experiencing irregular bleeding for the past 10 days, with periods that last for half a day to 2 days, stop for a day, then start again. This is the first time I've had this issue. My last period started on December 21st, and I generally get my periods every 5 weeks. I had a steroid injection 2 weeks ago for carpal tunnel syndrome but no relief.
